WIREHAVEN KENNELS

At WIREHAVEN KENNELS, we have taken something started as a passion and turned it into a breeding & guide business bound for success. We are located in Lino Lakes, MN where we live together with our German Wirehaired Pointers (GWPs) most of the time. We have a cabin in McGregor in the heart of Minnesota's grouse & woodcock population, and access to private hunting land with prime upland bird habitat.

 

Our GWPs are exposed to all upland game birds, waterfowl, and the occasional fur/blood track; however, Wirehaven GWPs see more grouse and woodcock throughout the hunting season and learn to navigate the grouse woods at a young age.

Our mission is to breed and train exceptional GWPs, renowned for their unparalleled grouse hunting skills and versatile field performance. Our dogs are not only elite hunters, but also family-friendly companions with outstanding temperaments, perfectly suited to thrive with kids, families, and societal pressures.

 

Our goal is to breed dogs that exhibit confidence in the field, the show ring, and most importantly, at home, where they spend the majority of their time. We ensure our GWPs have stable and dependable temperaments, avoiding both shyness and aggression. Only those dogs that meet our high standards for hunting skills, temperament, and conformation are considered for our breeding program. Our stud services feature sires with proven bloodlines, ensuring the next generation of well-rounded, and sociable hunters.

At Wirehaven Kennels, we combine a lifelong passion for hunting with the exceptional abilities of our German Wirehaired Pointers—Buzz, Woody, Jessie and Buttercup. Our guide services are designed to provide an authentic upland hunting experience in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, with a focus on grouse, woodcock and pheasant.

 

As a hunting family with multiple GWPs, we have firsthand experience with the versatility and reliability these dogs bring to the field. Our journey began in 2011 with Rusty, our first GWP, and from the very beginning, we were fortunate to experience the intelligence, drive, and willingness to work that define this remarkable breed.

Throughout the upland season, our dogs provide guide services across northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, travel southwest for pheasant hunts, and rise early for waterfowl hunts as the seasons allow. Our GWPs are always in pursuit of what’s in season, demonstrating the true versatility that makes them exceptional hunting companions.
